The Powers’ Family
I’m Leah — a blessed child of God, wife to a faithful man who stole my heart at 18, and mama to five beautiful souls — three here and two in Heaven. I’m a birth doula, volleyball coach, home education facilitator, aspiring gardener, children’s book author and illustrator, decent food and bread maker, and pretty much a self-taught Jane-of-all-trades.
If I’m not doing one of those things, I’m probably somewhere in my house organizing or rearranging furniture just to change things up — far more often than my husband would prefer!
I love Jesus, and I love witnessing the miracle of life at birth.
My Journey to Birth Work
After achieving a physiologic birth — mostly out of stubbornness and a little education — with my first baby, something inside me sparked. My curiosity grew into a deep passion for the birth world. With each birth, my faith and understanding of undisturbed birth deepened.
I crafted an environment and a support team for my second birth that honored the sacred design of birth even more than I did at the time. Though each of my first two births looked different, they shared the same foundation: a desire to give birth the way God intended.
And I didn’t stop there.
About me
My Birth Experiences
By God’s grace, I’ve experienced physiologic births with all my children so far — each one shaping me in profound ways:
2019: Birthing center birth (in a hospital)
2021: Homebirth
2023: Early infant loss at 12 weeks gestation
2024: Planned, unassisted home birth
2025: Early infant loss at 6 weeks gestation
After our first miscarriage — the one that shook my world — I felt spiritually called to surrender fully to God. To rely on Him in every area of my life like never before.
When I became pregnant again, I knew deep in my heart that I could give birth undisturbed at home. So I lovingly prepared my husband, Marc, for the wild ride ahead. Though unsure at first, he stood by me completely — and I’ve never felt more held by him than in that sacred birth space.
All glory to God, we did it. Our baby came unrelenting, butt first, into our hands. You can read that full story here.
That experience transformed me. It deepened my appreciation for my body, my baby, my husband, my Jesus, and for birth itself. It brings me utter joy every time I dwell on it.
It also confirmed what I had felt all along:
“This is what I was born to do — be a mother and help others as they become one too.”
My Heart for This Work
Birth is an intense and beautiful journey that demands all of you. The best thing you can do is surrender and embrace it. It’s not a path meant to be walked alone — and I feel both called and honored to walk it beside you.
I’ve always believed we’re meant to do life together — to share our stories, lift one another up, and serve each other in love. Servanthood and care are the heartbeat of my faith, and I find the joy of the Lord in serving families as they bring life into the world.
Because babies are miracles.
And their entry into this world should be nothing short of worthy of that miracle. Amen?
You’ve partnered with the Creator in creating life — and now, I’d be honored to partner with you in welcoming that little one earth-side.
Your birth matters.
It will shape you and your baby for life.
Building the bridge to your birth takes intentionality, faith, and love — and you, Mama, are absolutely worth investing in.
Humbly with Love,
Leah Powers
